What is a podcast?
The term Podcast comes from a combination of iPod (the highly successful mp3 player) and broadcast (as in a radio).
Podcasts are audio files made available for download on a regular basis. Podcasting is becoming a very popular
option for a lot of people to create low-cost radio-like shows with potential for world-wide audience reach.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
Step one is to download a Podcast receiver. If you have never used one before, try installing one of the podcast
receivers mentioned below and see which one you like. Then point your Podcast receiver to the addresses above
next to each podcast you are interested in.
What is a podcast Receiver?
An podcast receiver is simply a piece of software that you can use to collect and download all of the podcasts
you are interested in. It works similarly to email programs such as Outlook Express, Eudora or Thunderbird
when a new podcast is available the program downloads the audio file and stores it in a location you specify
until you are ready to listen to the file.
The following is a list of podcast receivers available for download:
There are many more podcast receivers available (typically for free). To find them search for "podcast receiver" in google.
